Russian Make. What is it?

Polishing school was born in Smolensk in 1963. Over the long years the specialists of Kristall Production Corporation have been perfecting their professional skills and developed new technologies to create polished diamonds which have become well-known in the world as "Russian Make" diamonds. Our enterprise stood at the beginning of this notion and only we kept the best traditions of the production and the best school of highly skilled of craftsmen, able to manufacture these fine polished diamonds, "Russian make" ones.

These polished diamonds are so valued all over the world because of first of all, "Russian make" is a quality without compromise.

Symmetry

Symmetry is assessed as the evenness of the outline of a diamond and the shape and placement of the facets. (Although symmetry is assessed visually, these evaluations may be supported by an optical measuring device).

One of the most important characteristics of “Russian make” is an exact, symmetric, geometrically sound picture of the polished diamond crown.

It is required that the cullet was located on a diamond symmetry axis.

A shifting of the crown facets relative to pavilion facets of as much as a pair of degrees does not have a profound effect on brilliance, therefore, that stone should not be called "Russian make" polished diamond.

Parameters

One more characteristic of the flawless ”Russian make” diamond quality is its pointed tip culet. Pavilion facets come to one point lying at the diamond symmetry axis.

The rib line on the "Russian make" diamonds is clear and comes to one point. Additional rib lines visible under the tenfold magnification are inadmissible as well.

Polishing

Surfaces of the polished facets should be flat, polished carefully. It is unacceptable to leave the tracks of the graphitization, kerfs, scratches and other tracks of polishing visible under the tenfold magnification, on the facet surface.

Girdle.

According to the company's standard it is allowed at Kristall Production Corporation to manufacture polished diamonds with the girdle height from 0.7% to 2.0% of the diamond diameter.

The famous feature of “Russian Make“ diamonds is a so called “frosted” girdle.
